Switch on Safety Terms

1. Introduction

These Switch on Safety Terms and Conditions (Terms) explain the terms that apply to your use of the Switch on Safety service (The Service), outlined at www.switchonsafety.co.nz and provided by The Network for Learning Limited (N4L).

The Service is provided to support online learning on devices used to undertake schoolwork. |

The Service is provided to help NZ teachers and learners across primary, intermediate and secondary education to learn in a safe online environment regardless of their location or the network they are connected to. It is specifically provided to support education and educational use cases. |
IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING USE OF THE SERVICE
In order to ensure The Service remains available to those it is designed to protect, it must not be used by non-education users or on devices that are not used for educational purposes. If you have used The Service in error, you must remove The Service from your device.
2. Application of these Terms

These Terms apply to any person who enables The Service on a device (you). You must be at least 18 years old and you are responsible for ensuring that any person who uses the device also complies with these Terms. |

Our Acceptable Use Policy, governs how The Service may be used. For example, you must use The Service in a responsible manner and must not interfere with the availability of The Service for other users. You must not on-sell The Service or use it for any use case other than the use cases described in these Terms. Serious breaches of our Acceptable Use Policy may result in your access being revoked. |

Our Privacy Statement explains how we collect and use personal information, including your rights to access your personal information. When you use The Service, N4L collects IP addresses and domain names. We will not distribute this information or use it to identify individual users or households. N4L may collect your name, email address and phone number (and any other information you provide to us) if you contact our helpdesk for support. N4L does not collect any other personal information in connection with use of The Service.

3. The Switch on Safety Service
Overview
3.1 |
N4L’s Switch on Safety Service provides web filtering capability for end user devices, regardless of location or the network they are connected to. |
Features

The Service blocks web content that falls under the web filtering categories as defined here. |
3.3 |
The Service is a DNS Filtering service that is capable of blocking websites that have been categorised by the system at the domain level (e.g. www.badwebsite.com). The Service does not however decrypt SSL/HTTPS traffic or inspect traffic at the url level (e.g. www.ambiguouswebsite.com/badcontent.html). |
3.4 |
The Service may be configured by using a downloadable software client in some situations. Using this software is at your own risk. |

Utilising The Service
Termination

In accordance with the Consumer General Terms, you or N4L may terminate The Service at any time. N4L will endeavour to inform you of the termination of The Service at least 1 month prior to the termination. |
IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING TERMINATION
If The Service is discontinued, you must remove The Service from your device. Failure to do so may adversely affect your ability to access the internet.
