The new look Pond is here and it is a beautiful thing! Brighter, sharper and cleaner, this version of Pond reflects the feedback from Pioneer Educators and the observations made by our development team on how educators are using Pond to add and list resources.
Pond now looks slick on smartphones and tablets as it is now optimised for all modern mobile devices. Scrolling through resources and Learning Ideas is more natural with all details attached to a resource in line with the resource itself – you no longer tab through to Learning Ideas, they are at the bottom. Searching for something is quick and easily digestible on mobile devices as you’re able to click through each column and the various providers accessible in Pond. With the new styling for mobile devices, Pond on a desktop also looks a little different, with larger images to catch the eye and increased browsability.
Within the catalogue, you will see that ‘Services and Items’ are now called ‘Resources’ to more accurately reflect how educators are using them. Nothing has changed with the process of adding a resource or commenting on it. These resources look richer yet simplified with all of the relevant comments and Learning Ideas all in line with the resource itself.
Because of the amazingly detailed feedback sent into our development team, the following changes have been made to Pond;
- Comments are now deletable (as are resources added to the catalogue)
- Hyperlinks can now be added to comments connecting resources
- Information is displayed is more in line with the level of detail added to each item
- Ripples reflect more relevant information about the resources added
- ‘Comments’ are now called ‘Thoughts’
Pond is constantly being updated and changed thanks to our very dynamic development team. With the constant feedback coming in from educators, N4L is able to create something that educators want – rather than design something irrelevant to the needs of its users. So, although sometimes change is unwelcomed, we think this new version of Pond is rather loveable. Jump into Pond and have a look.
