Schools wanting to implement Individualised Filtering as part of N4L’s Web Filtering are now able to do so using Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) as their authentication method. This means school now have 3 options when implementing Individualised Filtering – SAML, Active Directory or LDAP.
There is no cost to schools using Individualised Filtering however there may be some setup costs incurred if they choose to outsource the implementation work to their IT support company.
For those carrying out the implementation work, the majority of work for integration takes place within the school environment, and involves the following:
- Ensuring the school’s SAML Identity Provider/SSO service is setup to work with N4L’s Web Filtering
- Deploying trusted root certificates on internet enabled devices
- Applying changes to school’s filtering settings
- Setting up and running reports
- Troubleshooting basic errors
To support schools wanting to use this authentication method, an updated version of the Secure Website Inspection and Individualised Filtering Deployment Guide is now available.
