Adeel’s story
For our 10-year anniversary, we’ve asked several long-standing team members to reflect on their role at N4L, what drives them, and what they see for the future of technology in learning.
Meet Adeel Soomro, Delivery Engineering Manager
Hi, my name is Adeel Soomro, I’m the Delivery Engineering Manager at N4L and I’m 4 providing online learning opportunities for kura.
I’ve been a part of the team here for nearly 10 years and have loved my journey through my various roles as technology has developed. Now, most of my time is spent working with kura to keep them up-to-date with technology and ensuring that our products and services are installed as smoothly as possible.
One of the main reasons I moved with my family to New Zealand was to be able to provide a better education for my children. So working for an organisation that’s helping make it better here felt like a dream job — I feel extremely grateful to work for a company that contributes to the educational needs of young Kiwis.
Things have come a long way in the last 10 years. When I first started at N4L, there were only six or seven schools that were connected, in the whole country! We’ve now helped around 2,500 schools and kura across Aotearoa connect to reliable, safer internet, with the implementation of technical architecture further helping improve the speed and security of almost every state school in New Zealand.
The transformation over my time at N4L has been huge and I think that will continue for the next decade. For me, virtual reality offers the most exciting opportunities to make learning more interactive and fun for ākonga. Imagine putting on a headset and travelling through space to learn about the galaxy or walking with dinosaurs? Who knows what will be possible! My team and I are excited to see.
